Wassail Party, January 19, 2020
January 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm$75.00
“Old apple tree we wassail thee
And hoping thou will bear
For the Lord doth know where we shall be
‘Til apples come another year”
Wassailing, an ancient tradition to honor the trees in the apple orchard to ensure a fruitful harvest in the New Year.
After an Alsatian inspired meal, who will be chosen the Wassail King or Queen? We will then have a parade down to the short path to the orchard where we will rouse the good orchard spirits with noisemakers and toast the trees before returning to the house for dessert.
Alsace is a region of France that borders Germany and has a cuisine that reflects both countries.
Tarte Flambée: a tart with onion, walnuts, and Lakin’s Gorges Cadscadilla Bleu cheese
Choucroûte garnie: sauerkraut served with sausage made from our forest grazed pork
Nouilles a l’Alsacienne: thin noodles tossed with poppy seeds and chives
